Track Your Packages with Sierra Courier
There’s a certain trust factor that goes hand-in-hand with a shipping company – you’re putting your important document or package in their hands and entrusting them with the safe, timely and secure delivery of your item.
We know that this is important to our clients. As you’ve seen in past blogs, we at Sierra Courier have delivered a wide assortment of valuable items throughout Winnipeg. No matter the object, it has a value to someone, and when busy schedules get in the way of personal delivery, Winnipeggers have come to depend on us to properly deliver packages large and small.
While we stand by our name and our expert delivery methods, we also like to offer our customers that extra layer of comfort – tracking. Through eTrac, our online order entry system, you can see if a package has been delivered or is currently in process.
In addition to these features, you can also see who signed for a package upon its arrival. This may seem trivial to some, but when you’re working with a larger office where multiple people can receive a package, this becomes a very useful tool to see who would have signed for an item as you do your CSI hunt for the missing package.

Strange Company for a Winnipeg Courier Driver
By now you’re used to hearing about some oddities that Sierra Courier has transported over the years; but this one is more unique.
You see, one particular delivery we made was a little bit, shall we say, more visible than others.
A couple years back, we had to have one of our deliveries ride shotgun. Now this wasn’t a small parcel by any stretch of the imagination. It was actually a few feet tall. Heck, you can even say it was life size (though not life like).
You see, this particular delivery was a skeleton.
No, we’re not ribbing you – this was a living, breathing…Okay it wasn’t living or breathing, nor was it an actual collection of dry bones; but to anyone who dared pull up beside our delivery van, well, let’s say they got quite the surprise look at a red light from our plastic imitation friend.
Now the driver hasn’t shared all the details with us, but we can only assume a couple things from this unique road trip:
- There were a few salivating dogs that chased the car from pick-up to drop-off.
- “Bad to the Bone” was the song of choice on this deadman’s voyage.
- The stop at the Tim Hortons drive-through was unforgettable.
So the question you’re probably asking yourself now (okay there are probably a few but stay with us) “why did the skeleton ride up front with the driver?”
Well, laying our skeletal friend down for transportation wasn’t an option. The last thing we’d want is a broken leg or arm for our client.
As a result, the skeleton sat up front and had the ride of its life, strapped in next to our careful courier.
This, of course, is our #2 entry on our top six list of strangest deliveries. Stay tuned, because next time, we’ll reveal #1, and let’s just say this one will be a tasty treat you won’t soon forget.
Have A Ball with Sierra Courier’s Strangest Winnipeg Deliveries
Tastes vary from person to person, and some believe themselves to be the connoisseurs of new and interesting cuisine. At Sierra Courier, we consider our drivers the connoisseurs of Winnipeg deliveries – up to and including Ram Testicles. No, you didn’t read that incorrectly, we did say Ram Testicles and they were for consumption purposes.
One of our strangest shipments which made us curious about the origin of testicle consumption in cuisine. This tradition started in Iceland as part of Bóndadagur, "Husband's Day". This is a time where wives show a token of their love by serving their dried fish, smoked lamb, putrefied shark and soured blood and liver pudding along with other soured meat products, including hrútspungar (pickled ram's testicles). That’s one way of saying I love you!
This experiment in consumption in nothing new and in fact is becoming a world wide trend with festivals throughout the United States and Canada. There are also a number of health benefits including cellulite reduction. Give them a try!
Ram’s Testicles in Honey Sauce with Sweet Potato Chips
TheWorldWideGourmet.com
INGREDIENTS
For 2 serving(s)
4 ram's testicles, prepared
10ml mild chili powder
2.5ml cinnamon
15ml flower honey
150g butter
1 nice sweet potato
oil
salt
METHOD
Toss the ram’s testicles gently in salt without crushing them and rinse in fresh water.
Rinse several times, then slice into strips and drain on paper towel.
Meanwhile, peel the sweet potato and slice thinly – use a mandolin to save time.
Heat the frying oil in a skillet and cook the sweet potato slices until crispy. Drain and place on paper towels. Salt and set aside.
Melt the butter in a skillet and add the spices (paprika, cinnamon, cumin), stirring with a spatula to blend the ingredients well.
Add the sliced ram’s testicles and cook for a few minutes before adding the honey. Cook over high heat for several minutes.
Remove the ram’s testicles and keep hot.
Make the sauce: reduce the cooking juices to form a sweet, slightly-thickened sauce.
Serve the ram’s testicles with the sweet potato chips and spoon the sauce over top.
The Buzz of Being a Winnipeg Courier
Spring is a favorite time of year for most people. The trees are greener, the flowers are blooming and the birds are chirping. The drawback is the bees are plentiful. Some people simply ignore bees, others may be allergic and are fearful, while others are just plain scared of being stung. Imagine driving down the road and a swarm (by swarm, I mean hundreds) comes traveling out of their tube and buzzes around your courier van. This was exactly what happened to our Winnipeg courier driver who was transporting a hive for a customer. Luckily, the driver was able to pull over without any accident or incident. But what to do with the bees?
In order to completely eradicate a beehive, one must locate the queen and remove her. Without a queen, the rest of the bees will then follow. After contacting a professional, the professional bee-keeper was able to “save the queen” and all of the other bees.
Months later, ever so often a bee would be seen flying around the truck. To this day, the local courier driver insists that he can still hear buzzing when he is driving. Good thing he is no longer fearful of bees
